Landscape and the feelings evoked are his inspirations for both drawings and paintings. Expressive mark making and experimental mixing of media help create a unique body of work.

Phil studied Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University, graduating in 1997 before pursuing a career as an artist. He has been exhibiting work in contemporary galleries throughout England as well as London and Bristol affordable art fairs.
His work explores the ground between abstraction and figuration where forms emerge from a fluid use of media. His work is both instinctive and keenly observed bringing together raw marks with more mediated responses.

Situated off Heslington Lane . Turn down Fulfordgate as if going into Fulford School and take the only road on the left 100 yards before the School Gates. The house is halfway down Eastward Avenue on the left. Plenty of on street parking is available
Accessibility: There are a few small steps to get through to the studio at the rear of the house. Once inside the house wheelchair use would be no problem.
